Here With Me by ladyfae

He awoke alone, surprised, for the first time in days, to wake up without her warmth pressing against him. He turned over slowly, looking at the empty expanse of bed beside him. A soft soundless sigh forming on his lips, denial forming in his mind, but never reaching his lips. She was gone every extra sense he had screamed that fact as surely as the cool sheets, that still smelled of her sweet scent, like roses and Lavender, mixed with something spicy and entirely unique to the woman herself. He reached forward his hand brushing over the silk night gown that still lay where she’d dropped it in her haste. . I didn't hear you leave I wonder how am I still here I don't want to move a thing It might change my memory

Wrapping his hands around the gossamer fabric, he smiled bitterly remembering slowly pushing the thin straps from her delicate shoulders, watching as her flesh blushed prettily beneath his hungry gaze. The sweet salty taste of her skin, soft beneath his lips, hands. The fragile shaking of her frame as she arched against him in pleasure as she delighted in being learned by his hand. His hands clinched on the frail material pain, anger and hunger burning through him. She’d left him, without a word, nothing, just disappeared from the bed they had shared, and moved into the sunlight where he could not follow.

Oh I am what I am
I'll do what I want
But I can't hide

He couldn’t stay here much longer, not without her, never had his home felt more like a prison then at this moment, she was his, the darkness within him insisted, she’d given herself to him whole heartedly didn’t she understand, there was no going back, no changing her mind. She couldn’t just up and walk away from him, he’d warned her, told her make it clear without a doubt. As clear as the bite marks she’d begged him to mar her pale flesh with. She belonged to him, and for once his demon and soul agreed, he wasn’t about to let his chosen mate go without a fight.

I won't go I won't sleep
I can't breathe
Until you're resting Here with me

He set for a long moment undecided, not sure what to do, not sure how to pursue her with out causing her more trouble. As he set there, his fingers holding the soft silken night gown in a death grip he began to realize that he wasn’t going to let her go, wasn’t going to except that she wanted to take the easy way out. He wouldn’t let her go was too hard it hurt too much. Now that he’d grown used to having her around. How dare she walk into his life, carve a little place in his heart for herself and up and leave as though what he offered her was a mere scrap from the table? He wasn’t some book borrowed to be returned to the shelf once read. She hadn’t even begun to understand him, and he wasn’t going to let her go, when he’d barely plumbed the depths of her soul. He wasn’t ready to let go of her not yet.

I won't leave
I can't hide
I cannot be
Until you're resting Here with me

Standing he looked down at the bed his mind filled with images of her warmth, her beauty, laying before him, his for the taking. Be sure, be very sure this is what you want, he’d warned her did she think? That because now in the mornings light she realized what she had done and how complicated things where about to get he’d let her go. That he’d accept it and simply move back into the shadows where he’d come from. He wouldn’t she wasn’t going to get away that easily.

I don't want to call my friends
They might wake me from this dream
And I don't wanna leave this bed
Risk forgetting all that's been

Even as he settled slowly on a plan of action he couldn’t shake the reluctance to leave this space to admit to himself that she’d left, that she had walked away from him without a thought, no note no nothing. How could she? She had never struck him as cruel and yet she had just walked away like nothing was any different. Did she believe that Sunnydale would protect her, that the thought of seeing his ex would really stop him from finding his soul, his essence? It wasn’t a simple one night stand to be chalked up as nothing more then a little fun to be forgotten in the morning light. She’d been his for a week, a whole week of waking next to satin smooth limbs and warmth breath brushing his still chest.

Oh I am what I am
I'll do what I want
But I can't hide

He felt his face shift, almost pitying the little witch, she had no idea how convincing he could be, she would be back with him where she belonged. It was what she wanted he knew, what they wanted, he wouldn’t let her go, wouldn’t accept it any other way, glancing at clock on the night stand he sighed a whole five more hours of day light.  He drew the covers up over his form, burring his face in the silken warmth of her night gown drawing in her soft sweet scent he allowed his eyes to close, intent on dreams of a certain red-haired witch.

Oh I am what I am I'll do what I want But I can't hide

End
